Washington DC - In a tragic accident today in Washington DC scores of visitors to the newly christened Martin Luther King Memorial were attacked by police armed with clubs and dogs in a tragic re-enactment of a 1960's civil rights demonstration gone wrong.
The visitors, mostly young African Americans and northern college students, were taking part in the planned re-enactment of a MLK demonstration at the memorial when the police surprised those attending by actually attacking.
The police actors, reportedly made up of mostly retired law officers and ex-sheriffs, savagely beat the hundreds of demonstrators who attempted to flee but were nonetheless hemmed in by the walls of the memorial. The demonstrators only respite came when the police, because of their advanced age, would drop to their knees long enough to catch their breath before rejoining the fray.
In a related story Republicans leaders, none of whom attended the official dedication of the MKL Memorial because they were on their month long August vacation, attacked Obama for being out of town on vacation during the events of the day.
