The entire state of South Dakota caught fire and burned to a cinder this afternoon leaving one family homeless, according to a report by the North Dakota News.
"The devastation could have been worse if there was more than one family living in South Dakota", said South Dakota governor Mike Rounds from his home in Nebraska. "I regret that all my voters have to endure such tragedy".
Mike Howell, his wife and three children were devastated when their modest 2 story home in Mound City, SD burned to the ground. However, one of the three families in North Dakota immediately came to the relief of the Howell family offering them food, clothing and even a barn to stay in until their own home can be rebuilt.
"It's even nicer than our house but doesn't have the privacy of South Dakota where we were the only family. And it will keep us out of the snow. For that, my family and I are grateful", Howell said from his temporary bedroom loft.
"This place sure is swanky! I hope we gets ta stay here!" Howell's wife Wilma declared.
Howell's 3 children had not yet reached the age of ten and were still unable to speak.
Todd Clander, the owner of the barn the Howell's will be staying in said something but it was unintelligible..
After the devastation it was discovered that there were thousands of Native Americans living on reservations in South Dakota. Governor Rounds said "that's ok, they're just Indians".
