Nancy Pelosi's bill to fund government for the rest of the fiscal year tolls a death knell for President Trump's border wall. When it clears the House on a largely party line vote, the bill, all told, will have oodles of money for border security but nothing for a wall, barrier, fence, slats, a trench or alligators. "Unacceptable," the president tweeted.
Republicans unsuccessfully tried to amend into the bill, tolls for passing through the wall, if built, but failed to garner enough votes. In a defeated compromise bill toll, the folk art decorative ornamental painting, would have spruced up the otherwise drab concrete barrier.
Supporting the Republican version of the bill, trolls from Russia flooded social media with fake news, claiming that advocates of the bill told nothing about the national emergency at the border.
So, don't ask for whom the bill tolls. It tolls for Trump.
