A tiny 3.5-inch, aluminum, doll-like sculpture called, 'Fallen Astronaut', was placed on the moon in 1971, (an Apollo Mission), to commemorate all 14 astronauts who had died, to advance us into space.
We all thought it was a lot of 'hooey' at the time, said a NASA engineer.
Now of course it sort of commemorates greedy Jeff Bezos getting rich out of commercializing space. Such is history.
The sculpture was by Belgian artist Paul Van Hoeydonk.
"They lied to me from beginning to end,” he said of NASA. “They didn't say it was going to the Moon. And I didn't give it the sappy name – ‘Fallen Astronaut’. It is pack of lies. I want to make copies to sell, and they say No, to me the creator. Bunch of A holes.”
