The new ITV show "Celebrity Food Finders", in which a celebrity has to last a day on food found in bins or the street, is "disgusting" and below even ITV's level, says its chairman.

B-lister comedian Joe Pasquale was shown rummaging through dustbins, drinking rainwater from guttering and even scraping chewing gum from the pavement in yesterday's first edition of the series.

After 108 phone calls of complaint from the public, ITV management has been quick to condemn the show as "unacceptable".

The troubled broadcaster is desperate to have a ratings hit to bring in advertising, and is now pinning all his hopes on Ant 'n' Dec's "Jungle Bug Kitchen" and "Albany 123", a costume drama set in Edwardian London about the world's first sex chat line.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
