An extra on ITV's early evening light tragedy, Emmerdale was revealed to not be another dingle character bought into the soap.
The man was thought to be Melvyn Hayes, playing the part of Coveting thy Neighbour's Ox Dingle. Other Dingles include Chastity, Charity, Butch, Marlon, and Sundance. But the new and unusual name was used in an attempt to bolster religion in the show, in an attempt to lure Housewife's favourites Aled Jones and Chris De Burgh into the show, for a gangster storyline in the wool-pack at Christmas, where the piano that was played by Seth is revealed to be the final resting place of King Arthur.
A spokesman for the show said: 'Melvyn Hayes was due to start filming in the show, it was a simple mistake, that was all. We also have Su Pollard to play Hope Dingle, Jeffrey Holland as Gluttony Dingle, and Blue Peter's Peter Duncan as Apathy Dingle, so it is all good on Emmerdale for the foreseeable future'.
