A man claimed that his phone suddenly erupted in flames while using the Twitter app. This is part of a new but rising trend of cases of phones malfunctioning due to Twitter becoming unusable since Elon Musk’s takeover.
Twitter user @HalSpark said he noticed his phone battery heat up every time he used the Twitter app. “Twitter hasn’t functioned well since Musk took over. It takes forever to load, I’m unable to see my notifications, and bot attacks have increased tenfold.” This has been in part due to Musk firing staff and entire teams, reducing content moderation, and re-instating banned accounts leading to increase in hateful content and bot attacks.
Hal continued, “Last thing I remembered doing was retweeting a meme about how Musk sold 6 more billion USD of Tesla shares while promising not to. Suddenly, I got a string of reply notifications from Musk fanboys and bots attacking me. As my battery started to heat up, I dropped my phone after which it literally caught on fire like it was a Tesla on a freeway.”
No injuries were reported.
